BypassGPT review: is the iPhone app legit, safe and free?

Written by the people who make the app, so read it with that in mind · updated September 2026

BypassGPT is a real iPhone app, on the App Store since October 2024 from developer Arpit Roy. It scores how AI-written a text reads and rewrites it in a tone you pick. It's billed through Apple and free to start with no account. It is not bypassgpt.ai, bypassgpt.org or bypassgpt.io.

We should say this up front: this site belongs to the BypassGPT app, so this isn't an independent review. What we can do is stick to facts you can check yourself (the App Store listing, Apple's own billing pages) and be specific about where the app falls short. If you searched "BypassGPT" and landed here, there's a good chance you're trying to work out which BypassGPT is which. That's where we'll start.

Which BypassGPT is this?

Search the name and you'll find several products called BypassGPT. Most are websites, at addresses like bypassgpt.ai, bypassgpt.org and bypassgpt.io. This site is about a different one: BypassGPT: AI Humanizer Pro, an app you download from Apple's App Store. We have no connection to those websites, and we can't answer questions about their products, accounts or billing.

This matters most when money is involved. If there's a charge you don't recognise, or a subscription you want to cancel, the table below tells you which company to contact.

The same goes for reviews. The Trustpilot page that comes up for the name is about bypassgpt.ai, which is a website, not this app. Before you trust any "BypassGPT review", look at its screenshots: a browser window means it's reviewing a website.

What does the BypassGPT app actually do?

You paste text in and it does two things:

The App Store listing also describes paraphrasing and writing-improvement tools. The app works out which language you pasted in, and the listing is available in nine languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Japanese. You don't create an account. The app runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 16 or later.

Is BypassGPT legit?

You don't have to take our word for any of this. Here's what you can check:

What "legit" can't mean is "guaranteed to pass every detector". No honest tool can promise that. Detectors disagree with each other, and research on whether AI-generated text can be reliably detected suggests the question has no clean answer. The app helps drafts you wrote with AI read like you. It doesn't change what your school or employer allows.

Is BypassGPT safe to use?

There are three things to think about.

Your account and payment details. There's no BypassGPT account, so there's no password of ours to leak. Payment goes through Apple, so the app never handles your card.

Your text. To score and rewrite your text, the app sends it to a server where an AI model processes it. On-device processing isn't how this works. So treat it like any online writing tool: don't paste passwords, medical records, client contracts or anything you'd be uncomfortable emailing. The App Store listing has Apple's App Privacy section, and our privacy policy has the rest.

How you use it. Making your own AI-assisted drafts sound like you is fine. Handing in rewritten AI text where AI isn't allowed, graded coursework for example, is still against the rules whatever a detector says. We go into this in the section of our best AI humanizer guide on whether humanizers are safe to use.

Is BypassGPT free, and how much is Premium?

It's free to start, with no account needed. Here's how that works:

If you plan to use it for more than about seven weeks, the yearly plan costs less than paying weekly: 52 weeks at $2.99 comes to about $155, against $19.99 for the year. If you only need a couple of texts cleaned up, the free options may be all you need, and we list them honestly in our guide to humanize ChatGPT text free.

How do I cancel a BypassGPT subscription?

If you subscribed in the app, the subscription belongs to your Apple ID, and only Apple can cancel it. On iPhone or iPad:

  1. Open Settings and tap your name.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Tap BypassGPT.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription (you may need to scroll down).

Apple has the same steps for Mac, the web and other devices in its guide to cancelling a subscription from Apple. A few things people often get wrong:

Should you use BypassGPT?

Use it if you draft with AI on your phone and want a quick loop: score the text, rewrite it in a tone, and score it again, with no account and no browser tabs. Skip it if you mostly write long documents at a desktop, need an Android or web tool, or want a guarantee about detectors, because nobody can honestly give you one.
